World Music Days - Jerusalem Folk Club

Dear Dana,

The last time we did a Special Daniel Pearl with the Jerusalem Folk Club, we had Todd Mack who came to Israel. Todd Mack played with us and answered the questions of the Journalists.

How can we contact Todd Mack to now when he will be in Israel.

For the love of Israel

David

David,

We are very sorry for the delayed response. Thank you for responding to our invitation to join the Daniel Pearl World Music Days, and we are happy that you are planning to organize an event in memory of Daniel Pearl Z'L.

Your message is addressed to Todd Mack who is not with our organization, the Daniel Pearl Foundation, though he is, like you, a long time participant in the Daniel Pearl World Music Days which we organize since Danny's tragedy in 2002.

We are sorry to hear that you are in the middle of a legal dispute with another group, concerning the name of your event or your organization. We hope this will come to a quick resolution and to your full satisfaction. We do not think, however, that this dispute should in any way affect your participation, since the Daniel Pearl  World Music Days is open to all groups, under any name, and all we require is that the name , Daniel Pearl, be associated with the idea of world peace,  friendship and Shalom Bait.

Please let us know if we can provide any additional information that will make your October event more meaningful and memorable or if we can help register your event on our website.

Dear Todd Mack,

I want you to know that there is maybe a very important mistake. This event  should probably  be called World Music Days- Jerusalem Folk Evenings. Why? WE created the real Jerusalem Folk Club, in 1973, and you met in October 2010 Bruce Brill, violin and banjo, who created it. Underneath you will see yourself playing in my house in a special event Daniel Pearl created by our Jerusalem Folk Club.

To our deepest regret, a group of extreme left and anti-religious musicians tried to steal our name in August 2010 and found all king of ways to humiliate us, for instance forbidding us to play in their events. We went to a lawyer and created a non-profit organization called “ Jerusalem Folk Club” which is also taking care of charity, Gemilut Chassidim.

Of course we will be delighted to collaborate with you and organize an event for Daniel Pearl Z”L even though we do it already for his yarzeit. See our TV show on Israeli TV called “ Qui a tue Daniel Pearl?”

Since I am a Head Nurse in the Ministry of Health for the Jewish, Christian and Muslim education, I must repeat that the real problems of Peace are not between Muslims and Jews. There is a real problem of Shalom Bait, Peace between the Jews.

Friendly yours,

David Orbach

David,

The Daniel Pearl Foundation invites the Jerusalem Folk Club to participate this October in the 11th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, a global network of performances that unite audiences around the world in their common humanity as they take a stand against violence and hate.

The World Music Days program was inspired by the life and ideals of journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, former Wall Street Journal South Asia Bureau Chief, who was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan shortly after 9/11. Danny used his pen and violin to foster tolerance, bridge cultural divides, and spread friendship wherever he traveled. During Danny's birthday month of October, musicians gather annually to commemorate his life's work and use music to spread his message of tolerance and peace.

This awareness-raising program involves making a dedication at any of your October performances from the stage or in the printed program. By registering your event(s) at www.danielpearlmusicdays.org, you will confirm your participation and publicize your event(s) worldwide. You also have the opportunity to create an Artist Profile with your event and contact information, photos, and links to your designated website, thus promoting you and your event(s) on our website and our growing network of like-minded music fans.

Since its inception in 2002, World Music Days events have grown to include more than 8,900 performances globally. In October 2011 alone, there were 2,088 concerts in 83 countries, led by the distinguished artists serving on our Honorary Committee, and an additional 160 Tribute Events held outside the month of October.

We hope you will join us this October!
