EVENT Ani le Dodi Ve Dodi Li with the Jerusalem Folk Club

Dear friends,

Next week will be the beginning of the Month of Elul. The Sages say that the abbreviation of Elul is Ani Ledodi Vedodi li. According to the famous interpretation of Rabbi Akiva on the Song of Songs, Dodi, my lover, is God and Israel is the bride. For that reason we begin to hear the sound of the Shofar after the prayer at the beginning of Elul, to repent and come back to God.

Another interesting interpretation from the Sages of Yemen is that the Song of Songs is a love song the King Shlomo wrote for his mother Batsheva.

Anyway, Elul is about love, and you will hear beautiful love songs in Hebrew, English and French.

The best songs of Bob Dylan, Mark Knopffler,  Neil Young, Eric Clapton, the beautiful song Leonard Cohen took from the Prayer Book of Rosh Hashana “ Who by fire, who by water”. And also our new compositions, of course.

Here is our Hebrew and Arabic version of “ Romeo and Juliet” music written by Mark Knopffler.
